This is our high-level roadmap which will likely change as the project develop. We will keep the community posted whenever we make some changes:

H2-2021 (Launched first strategy)

• Launched first strategy: Launched a long-only strategy ("LO Beta") and started trading live on a CEX.

Q1-2022 (Learned from changes in market regime, new strategies)

• Other quant systematic strategies: We launched other type of quantitative trading strategies that aimed to trade certain CEX infrastructure inefficiencies, as well as also took advantage of certain cryto-market statistical phenomena. As we learned about the conditions that are likely to make them profitable, we are aiming to relaunch them at a later date.

Q2-2022 (New strategies iterations, started work on Calculum)

• Strategy development

  • Long-Short Beta ("LS Beta"): To take advantage of the new market regime (bear market), researched and launched our first iteration of a long-short strategy ("LS #1").

• Calculum Protocol

  • Assembled Calculum initial contributor team.

  • Laid out initial long-term vision for the DAO.

  • Designed vault infrastructure (v1, with bigger plans upcoming for v2).

Q3-2022 (Continued work in Calculum)

• Strategy development

  • LS #1: With the lessons learned from LS Beta, we started researching and developing another group of trend-following (CTA) long-short strategies.

  • LO #1: With the lessons learned from LO Beta, we started researching and developing another group of long-only strategies ("LO #1").

• Calculum (infrastructure)

  • Finalized vault (v1) implementation on Goerli testnet.

  • Developed prototype backend infrastructure for MVP (TraderBot and TransferBot).

• Calculum (other)

  • Designed basic branding (e.g. logo, colour palette).

  • Developed basic UI for testnet MVP.

  • Started drafting documentation.

Q4-2022 (Launching Calculum on testnet)

• Strategy development

  • LS #1: Finalised research/paper trading and start trading live on a CEX.

  • Adapt either a long-only or a CTA long-only strategy to trade with dYdX API and incorporate code into TraderBot.

• Calculum (infrastructure)

  • Developed a “dummy” trading strategy with dYdX API to be used in testnet MVP. However, dYdX uses its own internal representation of USDC on testnet, so withdrawal to Goerli wallet for integration with the vault was not possible. Therefore, we coded a function that simulates random changes in dYdX's wallet balance from one epoch to another to test the vault smart contract mechanics on testnet.

  • Started discussions with potential bridge partners to move assets from an Ethereum L2 to dYdX v3 and upcoming v4; In discussion with Socket, LI.FI and Multichain.

• Calculum (other)

  • Apply to dYdX grant.

  • Launch socials (Discord, Twitter, Medium).

  • Finish initial documentation.

2023 and beyond

• Strategy development

  • Launch other long-short strategies with returns lowly correlated to LS #1 and LO #1.

  • Quant team to continue researching and developing new strategies.

  • Develop analytics for Vault #1 (tracking daily performance, equity curve overtime, APY, Sharpe Ratio, Sortino Ratio, Max Drawdown, Longest Drawdown).

  • Develop a process to onboard new strategies from external contributors, and define an appropriate economic model maximising alignment of interests among all stakeholders.

• Calculum (infrastructure)

  • Launch prototype vault on Ethereum mainnet for live test (private vault, not open to external users' deposit).

  • Decide on which Ethereum L2 to move for our live vaults (to lower the gas costs).

  • Launch a second vault on Ethereum L2 (Arbitrum or Optimism) in a second private vault for live test. Integrate with Socket or LI.FI for bridging to dYdX v3 (and later dYdX v4).

  • Implement vault (v2) infrastructure and migrate vaults #1 & 2 to v2 on the Ethereum L2 .

  • Smart contracts code peer reviews.

  • Perform first official audit of the vault.

  • Perform second official audit (by different firm).

  • Launch a bug bounty with Immunefi or similar.

• Calculum (other)

  • Improve UI/UX.

  • Open vaults 1 & 2 to whitelisted beta testers.

  • Open vaults 1 & 2 to all DeFi users, starting with low TVL cap.

  • Progressively increase vaults 1 & 2 TVL cap and start marketing push.

  • Launch additional vaults (new strategies; different deposit assets such as ETH or wBTC).

• Calculum (DAO)

  • Start design governance processes and prepare for increased decentralisation.

  • Legal consultations.

  • Finalise tokenomics and launch token.
